A North Dakota legislator has announced plans to campaign to license internet gambling casinos in his state.
State Rep. Jim Kasper, R-Fargo knows that internet gambling casinos will most likely not be licensed out of North Dakota anytime in the near future. Nonetheless, he hopes to raise awareness about the issue through his publicity campaign.
However, there are many challenges involved in bringing together internet gambling casinos, since they are located all over the world. Kasper compared trying to organize the internet gambling casinos industry to ‘trying to herd a bowl of Jell-O.’
“If I were wealthy and I could take a lot of time away from my business to maybe devote my time to that only, maybe I could get it done,” he said. “But I’ve got bills to pay.”
In order to pass legislation to make it legal to license internet gambling casinos in North Dakota, several procedures need to be followed. Kasper would need to draft a proposed law and constitutional amendment, get Secretary of State Al Jaeger’s approval of petitions from residents, and register a committee to raise funds for the campaign.
